Our Process
1
Payroll Setup
The process begins with a payroll consultation to understand your business, workforce structure, and payroll schedule.
BrightPath assists with establishing payroll accounts, verifying tax registrations and applicable tax rates, and configuring your payroll system so everything is ready to run smoothly.
As part of onboarding, the necessary payroll documentation and authorizations are completed through secure electronic agreement so payroll services can be properly established before the first payroll cycle begins.
In most cases, the onboarding process takes approximately 3-4 business days to complete before payroll is ready to run.
2
Preparation & Approval
For each pay period, BrightPath gathers the necessary payroll information such as employee hours, salary amounts, and any payroll changes (bonuses, deductions, reimbursements, etc.) from the employer, designated managers, and/or connected timekeeping systems.
BrightPath reviews the information and prepares the payroll summary.
A report is then provided for the employer or authorized manager to review before payroll is finalized, approved, and released for processing.
3
Processing & Payments
Once payroll is approved, BrightPath processes the payroll run and initiates employee direct deposits.
Payroll taxes are calculated through the payroll system and scheduled for payment, and required filings are prepared so employees are paid accurately and on time.
After payroll is processed, the employer or authorized payroll contact receives the finalized payroll reports by email for their records.
Employees can securely access their payroll portal to view paystubs, access tax forms, and make certain updates to their information before the next payroll cycle when needed.
About BrightPath
BrightPath Pay & People Solutions is a payroll services bureau supporting small and mid-sized Texas businesses, nonprofit organizations, and public entities.
Our approach grew out of real operational experience inside a family-owned Texas company that transitioned from handwritten payroll checks to a structured payroll system while expanding its workforce and operations. During that transition, payroll responsibilities shifted from manual in-house processes to coordinating payroll for employees who had previously been paid through the HR and payroll department of a Fortune 500 company.
That experience revealed a challenge many small business owners face: understanding not only how payroll systems work, but how to ensure the entire payroll process is set up and monitored correctly. What does it actually mean to “run payroll” ? For many growing businesses, the answer involves more than simply running payroll through software - it requires oversight, coordination, and a clear understanding of payroll compliance responsibilities.
That experience also revealed how difficult it can be for many business owners to even know where to begin when looking for payroll support. The idea for TexasPayroll.com grew out of that moment - creating a clear place where Texas employers could start when they need help understanding and managing payroll. BrightPath was created to provide that missing layer of professional oversight. By combining modern payroll systems with direct review and compliance monitoring, we help employers ensure payroll runs accurately, employee payments are handled properly, and payroll filings remain compliant.
We continue to support the same Texas business where that transition first began - a company that has since expanded into a multi-state operation spanning four states.
We also help employers monitor key areas of payroll compliance, including federal payroll tax filings and agency correspondence from organizations such as the Internal Revenue Service and the Texas Workforce Commission. When questions or notices arise, employers often find themselves navigating large support structures where answers must pass through multiple departments. We take a more direct approach, helping coordinate communication and providing clearer visibility into payroll issues and their resolution.
For new business owners launching payroll for the first time, we can also assist with foundational setup steps such as EIN registration, payroll tax account setup, employer registrations, and guidance around onboarding documentation and payroll administration processes.
BrightPath also collaborates with CPA firms, accounting professionals, and staffing or temporary employment companies to help coordinate payroll responsibilities for shared clients. The payroll platform we use is compatible with many major accounting systems - including QuickBooks, Xero, FreshBooks, and other widely used platforms - helping ensure payroll data can integrate smoothly with existing bookkeeping and accounting processes.
BrightPath Pay & People Solutions is a Houston-based company holding a Small Business Enterprise (SBE) certification from the City of Houston. Our team includes accounting and business professionals with years of hands-on experience supporting payroll and HR operations for Texas employers since 2016.
Our goal is simple:
You focus on running your organization while we help ensure the payroll and compliance side is handled properly.
Why Choose BrightPath?
Payroll software can calculate numbers, but keeping payroll running smoothly and consistently over time while staying compliant requires oversight, coordination, and real operational experience.
BrightPath combines modern payroll technology with professional hands-on administration so employers can be confident employees are paid correctly and on time, and required tax filings are handled properly.
What sets BrightPath apart:
Oversight of the full payroll process
Payroll involves more than issuing paychecks. BrightPath helps coordinate onboarding setup, employee pay changes, benefit deductions, garnishments, payroll processing, and compliance filings so the entire process stays organized and on track.
Hands-on payroll experience supporting Texas employers since 2016
Our team has years of hands-on experience working directly with payroll operations for Texas businesses — processing payroll, coordinating tax filings, managing pay adjustments, handling garnishments, and supporting employers as their workforce grows.
Direct support without large call-center structures
Many payroll providers rely on layered support models where questions must pass through multiple departments. BrightPath provides more direct communication so employers have clearer visibility into payroll questions and resolution.
Help navigating payroll tax filings and agency notices
Employers may occasionally receive notices or correspondence from agencies such as the IRS or the Texas Workforce Commission. BrightPath helps review these notices, explain what they mean, and coordinate the appropriate response when needed.
Support for employers launching payroll for the first time
Starting payroll for the first time can feel overwhelming. BrightPath helps employers establish the foundational pieces required to begin paying employees properly - including EIN registration, TWC Account setup, payroll tax account registrations, system setup, time-tracking integration when needed, and guidance on employee onboarding
documentation.
Structured payroll processes designed for growing organizations
As teams grow, payroll often becomes more complex. BrightPath follows a structured payroll process that includes preparing payroll summaries, providing reports for employer approval before processing, and maintaining organized payroll records. When needed, we also help employers establish clear procedures for submitting hours or salary amounts so payroll information is prepared accurately and delivered on time for each check date.
